Every car manufacturer seems to be falling over itself to provide the most efficient hybrid or electric car. With fuel prices at an all time high it is hardly surprising that economic cars are becoming so popular. However is it spoiling the fun of motoring? Historically new cars advertised their maximum speed or their fabulous bhp but in todays much more sensible world, emissions is all they seem to care about. I am not undermining the importance of protecting the environment but it was a refreshing change to read about the new Jeep, Grand Cherokee SRT8!
Jeep have decided not to run with the pack and sometimes bucking the trend can pay off. The new Grand Cherokee looks amazing. It is basically a super sized version with a super sized engine to match. A 6.4 litre engine, 470 bhp and 630Nm torque! Impressed yet? Perhaps you should also know that it does 0-62 in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph!
The Cherokee SRT8 is expected to be launched in the UK in early 2012 at a cost of approximately £40,000 and I think it is going to put real pressure on some other manufacturers. The car is half the price of a Porsche Cayenne and offers a faster acceleration speed, plus it really does look the business. It may seem a rather unusual Audi A4 London car to release in the middle of a world economic crisis but that is why I love it!
NB: Owning your own personal petrol station would be an advantage!
